Plot problems

[edit]

The plot is a total mess, needs to be edited for style :D —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shicoco (talkcontribs) 02:47, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Movie title in other countries

[edit]

What country does this version of this film called, Pay Attention to the Uncle! come from? --PJ Pete

Maizy's name

[edit]

Her name is officially spelled M-A-I-Z-Y because it said in the captions and credits of the film. Her name is not M-A-I-S-Y, although some people state it being spelled that way. --PJ Pete

Errors/edits

[edit]

The film has contained various errors: Profanity and references to sex. However, when Uncle Buck was shown on television on certain channels, the profanity and references to sex were cut, and also the scene at Bug's house was cut, because in Bug's room, Bug was attempting to have sex with one of the girls while the party was in his house on the first story of the house. -PJ Pete

Profanity and references to sex are not "errors." They are content. PacificBoy 20:31, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
@PacificBoy And they weren't cut in other countries. Not even on free TV in the afternoon. The US is really weird when it comes to that 😉 2003:C5:4F3E:9D00:2199:87F3:EA24:AF8D (talk) 11:28, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On television, it would be believed that they cut out swear words, although in the film, Buck's girlfriend said "You son of a bitch!" in one scene and on television, in that scene she says "You son of a..." and the word, "bitch" was cut, and the scene at Bug's house was cut, and on television, after the scene where Buck is on his way to Bug's house as he's on the road between the trees, the movie pauses and goes to the commercials and after the commercials, as the movie comes back, the next scene is where Tia walks the long path after she leaves Bug's house. --PJ Pete

Last time I saw it on television, the Bug, attemped rape scene was present. Also when Bug says "If that door opens I'm gonna kick somebody's ass!", was changed to "I said cut it out!"

The trivia secion has an error: The instrumental song playing during the nighttime scene when Bug asks Tia to go out to his car with him is "Small Time Hustler" by The Dismasters.

The baseline is actually a track called "Sport" from an album called "Hustler's Convention" which the Dismaster's to song also uses, as well as some other rap songs from time to time. URL discussing this can be found here: http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=164

Link to album on amazon can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Hustlers-Convention-Lightnin-Rod/dp/B000008HQM --User:h0mi 11:15, 07 December 2006

Content description

[edit]

What was the reason why it received a PG rating in the United States? --PJ Pete

See your earlier reference to profanity and sexual references. PacificBoy 20:32, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Because a PG rating in the 1980's is equivalent to a PG-13 today. Uncle Buck didn't receive a PG-13 Rating mainly because there was no real on screen violence. The Clown Scene was the only violence in the movie, everything else was not shown & implied. There was also no nudity & There isn't a ton of "Strong Language" in the movie.--Hndsmepete 16:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I heard there was lot's of swearing and very comical violence in the clown scene and it had to be cut from the film cause parents complained.

The German synchronisation of this film

[edit]

Who are the German synchronisation-speakers of the film, Uncle Buck? Where can I find their names? Pooter-the-clown 08:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hit enter before I could type my reason for this edit. I removed the citation tag because there is an entire article about Uncle Bum (which is linked) that has proper citations. agentlame (talk) 04:26, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reverted all my changes in the plot summary?

[edit]

I am trying to understand why User:TheOldJacobite reverted every single change I just now made in the plot summary, saying that the plot summary needed to go back to the "correct version". Most of the changes I made were to improve the prose; there were very little factual changes, if any. Doing a sweeping revert like that without any explanation either on the talk page of the article or on my talk page is like an invitation to an edit war -- very inappropriate. Please explain. Invertzoo (talk) 14:27, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted back to the last stable version of the plot, before other recent changes. If you had noticed, other unexplained changes had been made to the plot, which was concise and accurate, so I reverted to the previous version. What changes do you think need to be made? ---The Old JacobiteThe '45 14:34, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think the prose is somewhat awkward, and can be improved to make it flow better and be easier to understand and more pleasant to read through. If I go ahead and work on the prose without changing the facts, I trust you will not revert me again. Invertzoo (talk) 19:49, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
