Suggestion on articles?

[edit]

Hello! I am working on this page as a part of a Wiki education project. I plan to improve this page by using the following sources:

  • 木村 幹 [Kan Kimura]. 総力戦体制期の朝鮮半島に関する一考察 -- 人的動員を中心にして [Analysis of Korean Peninsula during the total war era in World War II -- focusing on conscription]. 日韓歴史共同研究報告書. 第3分科篇 下巻 [Vol 2 of Report of Japan–South Korea Joint History Research Project - Modern History]. Tokyo: THE JAPAN-KOREA CULTURAL FOUNDATION, 2005. (Note: Translation was done by me and it may not be accurate)
  • The Ohara Institute for Social Research, Hosei University, ed. The Labour Year Book of Japan special ed. Tokyo: Toyo Keizai, 1964.
  • Shipper, Apichai W. "Nationalisms of and Against Zainichi Koreans in Japan." Asian Politics & Policy 2, no 1 (2010). doi: 10.1111/j.1943-0787.2009.01167.x
  • Suzuki, Kazuo. "KOREANS IN JAPAN (ZAINICHI KOREANS)" ExEAS Teaching Materials and Resources. Columbia University. http://www.columbia.edu/cu/weai/exeas/resources/koreans-in-japan.html
  • Tamura, Toshiyuki. "The Status and Role of Ethnic Koreans in the Japanese Economy." Institute for International Economics. https://piie.com/publications/chapters_preview/365/5iie3586.pdf

If you have any suggestions, comments, and/or questions, please let me know (note that I am proficient in Japanese but cannot understand Korean). Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maxton Brown (talkcontribs) 19:45, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kang Chol-Hwan

Would he be considered a repatriate to North Korea who then escaped? He parents were repatriates but he was born in the country. 188.141.47.192 (talk) 02:24, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article scope

[edit]

Currently the article's scope includes both Zainichi Koreans (pre-1945 arrivals and their descendants) and recent immigrants to Japan ("newcomers" in South Korean literature, I haven't seen how western literature refers to them; mostly post-1980ish from South Korea).

The two are really really different groups though. I'd argue this may merit a split at some point. toobigtokale (talk) 23:56, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's only gotten worse. The lead says "Zainichi Koreans, or Koreans in Japan". Not all Koreans in Japan are Zainichis. Zainichis are one of two major groups on the island (maybe three if you count Sakhalin Koreans as separate). seefooddiet (talk) 06:55, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
