This doesn't stand well all on its own. It belongs under Croatoan Island with a link at Roanoke. Wetman 03:51, 26 Feb 2004 (UTC)

The crosslinked articles do tell the entire story. However, this might be a useful entry for someone who remembers the word but not the story, since it is taught in American schools as kind of a notable mystery, with this one word emphasized. Gary D 22:01, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I think that information should be merged into Croatoan Island, with a redirect... Any objections? - DropDeadGorgias (talk) 17:21, Aug 3, 2004 (UTC)
I object, for the reason I gave above. --Gary D 01:17, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Oh, actually, on reading your original response, maybe you're right... but the information is currently being duplicated in both places. Maybe this info should be removed from the island article? - DropDeadGorgias (talk) 05:17, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)
I agree there's duplication, but the text is so minimal in both places that I would argue it might as well stay. Here's a thought, though—although the current text of this article mentions Croatoan Island, should Croatoan Island maybe be included in a separate disambiguating entry on this page as well, for readers who come here looking for the island? I presume someday the Croatoan Island article will grow to discuss many other aspects of that island besides this story. --Gary D 19:07, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
