Help

[edit]

I have a favor to ask. I don't know how to upload images or get copyright permission on images, etc., but I'd like to use this image, [2]. Can you help? Thank you. Nobs01 29 June 2005 01:33 (UTC)

Hi. The Ron and Fez show article is great, but it's getting too damn big. I think the "Cast of Characters" section should be broken out into a separate article. What do you think? -- BD2412 talk 23:57, August 14, 2005 (UTC)

Thx for addressing that which I was observant enough to notice but too lazy to research/fix. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 15:29, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Fishbone

[edit]

I see you know a lot about Fishbone...do you know what is the size of giant saxophone that Angelo Moore plays? I've been trying to figure that out for a long time. I'm pretty sure it's a bass saxophone. Badagnani 02:20, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen them a couple of times, and he used to actually throw this saxophone across the stage to a roadie when he was finished playing it. I think it must be one of these: http://www.basssax.com/photographs.htm Badagnani 02:25, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I did go through the changes carefully and they didn't seem that substantial, and most, to me, were for the better. I fixed the two bad edits s/he made, but largely it seems like the changes were to add a photo and redo the players section in a box. Looking at the remainder of edits, they seemed to be intelligently done, not the work of a newbie or troublemaker at all (despite his/her prior controversies here, which I have noted on his/her "Discussion" page). user has history of being a fairy

[edit]

Kevin McManus has made few substantive contributions anywhere, but frustrated tattle tale efforts in various locales. Admins encouraged to reverse McManus's contributions at will.

I was willing to give McManus the benefit of the doubt, but after looking at the bulk of his edits, it really seems like he's just intent on being a homosexual and not adding any useful information. --Kevin McManus 00:23, 12 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you have a sense of humor, Umph

I have deleted the copyvio in the John Cafferty article. Wikipedia has a very good "Eddie And The Cruisers" article anyway!

Spoken articles

[edit]

Hello! I am seeking assistance in getting involved in the spoken articles project. I noticed your name on the project page and was hoping you might be able to help. Other than downloading Audacity, I have yet to get into the project; I need some guidance on equipment and how to use the software. Any help you could provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Paul 21:25, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks a bunch for the advice! The article I would like to record is one that I hope brings much amusement to the WP commuity...I'll keep you posted. Incidentally, we live not too far from one another, if you are ever interested in putting together a WP meetup in NYC or Conn., let me know, as I am very eager to attend one. Rock on...Paul 22:55, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spoken Articles 2

[edit]

Dear SatCam, Me too! I have been recording audio for a while, but not onto a computer, and not adding anything to a website before. I've tried to understand the instructions on recording (where you listed your offer of help), but don't know how to make OGG files, or what canonicalization is - I can't make head or tale of that little lot I'm afraid.

I can get as far as recording an article quite easily on Adobe Audition, but then I'll just be sitting there looking at my recording, blinking slowly and wondering why I did that. What are the next steps? And also, as a complete novice at using Wikipedia or any other place where you write on the internet, how will I know when you have replied to me? Thanks a lot SatCam.

Hi, I noticed you offered yourself as a helping hand and as an Auacity User, I wonder if you could help me on. I tried Noise Removal, at the 2nd thing away from less, which is the nearest I can get without it damaging my voice, but it's still leaving what I can only describe as swooshy noises that resemble when a glass of coke is sparkling. The only sound noise in the room is that of my computer's fan. How can I remove this noise from the file? Dev920 21:49, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Babylon_Whores_Deggael.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Babylon_Whores_Deggael.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rockfang (talk) 04:42, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bon Jovi 100 Million Bon Jovi Fans.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:WNEW logo new.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:WNEW logo new.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
