no source listed for the claim that Turner considers Miranda "dead,"

[edit]

There's no source listed for the claim that Turner considers Miranda "dead," and that sentence was submitted anonymously (although apparently by someone who knows a lot about Turner). Can anyone cite a reference on this?

  • Well, Miranda looks kind of dead to me. I was curious about it, and I tried to find the company which is supposed to be selling it, Reasearch Software, Ltd. And I can't. If a software company doesn't have a website in this day and age... --Ansible 04:35, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The company which owns Miranda (Research Software Limited) is still alive and filing tax returns in the UK. See https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/01714265/filing-history I note from the filings that Professor David Alan Turner is still listed as a Director and Shareholder of the company. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:8109:440:8790:7C74:D6B0:D104:E901 (talk) 16:30, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any reason why he drops out of the comment, only to immediately start a new one?--80.135.92.95 21:36, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That piece of code is using Miranda's literate script mode: every line _not starting_ with ">" is a comment. The confusing part is that the author starts the above comment with ">" (which would indicate it's actually code!), but then proceeds to write an "||", which indicates it's a comment after all. There, I answered your question after only 4 years! 201.231.81.53 (talk) 00:44, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Introduction

[edit]

The lead begins "Miranda is a non-strict..." where "non-strict" forwards to the lazy evaluation page. This doesn't seem correct as there are many non-strict languages that aren't lazy. I haven't touched anything though as I'm not sure what the edit should be. --91.231.145.253 (talk) 09:17, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Comparison to Haskell

[edit]

This article looks like an introduction to Haskell - the syntax is strikingly similar. Are there aspects and features of Miranda that are different and have not found their way into Haskell? --Cebus (talk) 07:21, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
