The Calhoun County website says the county was established in 1829 rather than 1833. BenedictX 09:15, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The county was set off (that is lines were drawn on a map and given a name) in 1829. But it was attached for administrative purposes first to St. Joseph County and then to Kalamazoo. A separate Calhoun County government was not organized until 1833. I'll see if I can dig up a good source for this. This site gives a good overview. olderwiser 12:25, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
