Dose anyone have any information on Yhi??? PLease email me at chshoops07@yahoo.com The text looks like a copy of the Yhi article at the Encyclopedia Mythica site with only some minor changes.

Dubious

[edit]

1. Per my understanding, Indigenous Australian beliefs in the Dreaming do not involve "gods" in the Western sense (they aren't invoked/prayed to), but Ancestral Beings who transformed into various things.

2. The article cites what looks like a non-encyclopedic/non-professional source. It is likely based on A. W. Reed's retelling of various Aboriginal stories (see [1] - however, this retelling is dubious, as A. W. Reed's retellings have quite the touch of his imagination and appear to be rather heavily Westernised. For example, his re-telling of the Yuwalayaay story of "Beereeun the Mirage Maker" adds the character of Biame, who is not present in the original narrative, and changes the ending significantly (e.g. the reason parakeets are green) - see this link. I would be interested to read the stories about Yhi which A.W. Reed based his retelling on (he is known for re-telling stories collected by other people) --Corsican Warrah (talk to me) 10:09, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
