Pronunciation

[edit]

What is the difference in pronunciation between "ileum" and "ilium"? This should go in the first paragraph. --LostLeviathan 16:32, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've always pronounced them identically, and I've never heard anyone else make a distinction in their pronunciations. --David Iberri (talk) 08:51, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gastrin, secretin, and cholecystokinin are hormones, not enzymes.

[edit]

It looks like someone tried to stick a fact about gut hormones into the middle of a passage about gut enzymes. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ileum&action=historysubmit&diff=159959671&oldid=146437721 Both enzymes and hormones are secreted by cells of the ileum, but I think not the same cells. I hope I'll get back here after I find enough information to re-write the passage with confidence of being correct. At least this way it's on my contributions list so I can find it again without keeping this window open. --Dan Wylie-Sears 2 (talk) 02:39, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Come on...

[edit]

I found cecum and caecum on the same page i prefer cecum but i don't know what to do!!! Help! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.156.14.251 (talk) 09:56, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Caecum is common in the Queen's Medical English (British) while, Cecum is common in American Medicine. The Greek letter (?) æ is frequently transposed as "ae" in the Eastern Hemisphere and "e" in the Western. If you prefer Cecum you are probably American. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Altimmons (talkcontribs) 02:24, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possible vandalization

[edit]

Could someone please verify that the term "hahah" is not anatomically relevant in the caption for the Gray's Anatomy illustration accompanying the main article? I suspect that it's some form of crude attempt at humour, since I have no medical recollection of this being a serious academically or scholastically accepted term. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdsilentio (talkcontribs) 17:44, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Change

[edit]

I am going to undo the minor change that was saved by 193.62.251.32 on 19 January 2010, pursuant to the previous comment. Any commentary to the contrary is welcomed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdsilentio (talkcontribs) 17:53, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Intrinsic Factor

[edit]

Huge gap here, should be added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.14.25.33 (talk) 23:46, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Terminal ileum

The result of this discussion was to merge. Tilifa Ocaufa (talk) 07:33, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I can't see how terminal ileum should have different information from ileum or ileocecal valve. Seems like unnecessary duplication of content. --Tilifa Ocaufa (talk) 14:18, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support per above. To make proposing mergers easier, go to Preferences-->Gadgets and enable 'Twinkle'. The 'TW' bar will appear and when you click 'Tag' it makes it very easy to tag pages for things. --Tom (LT) (talk) 22:25, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice :). Seems very helpful. I'm merging the article this week, maybe when 7 days pass. No need to keep such trivial articles in my opinion. The pathology section looks good for a start but it's applicable to the whole ileum/small intestine --Tilifa Ocaufa (talk) 14:10, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
