Joaquin Phoenix

[edit]

Stormie, It's nice to hear an opinion from someone who doesn't have an attitude problem. Tell you what, I'm going to take your advice but, leave my article as is until I gather the information that I would like to edit into RickK article. O.K? User:Marine 69-71

Stormie, I like what you did, you did the right thing and I think that RickK would also agree. I'll just add the link to the List of Puerto Ricans. Thanks. User:Marine 69-71

You don't think "Today Joaquin Phoenix continues to excel as an actor." was a tad POV? RickK

I knew. I was just being snarky. RickK 06:20, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind comments about DES! I've nominated it on WP:FAC, so hopefully any remaining problems will get spotted. It's also great to hear that you're interested in checking over the "Article of the Day"; in the box I've included two days in either direction in the hope that people will find something interesting to read through at any given time ;-) — Matt 05:37, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Sysop

[edit]

Congratulations! You are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the administrators' how-to guide helpful. Good luck. Angela. 19:54, Aug 4, 2004 (UTC)

Congratulations on your Adminship. Now if a vandal gives you another "Stormie is a ..." hommage, you can take care of it yourself. I am still jealous, though ;-) Congratulations again -- Chris 73 | Talk 14:29, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)

How you doing Stormie

[edit]

I think that you will make a great administrator. You seem to be a fair and a well educated person. If I have any questions I'll consult you. I'm just courious. How come you and RickK started to edit my article on Maria Elena Holly, even before I finished it? I'm not complainig because everything was done in good taste but, it seems rather courious that RickK is taking a special interest in my article. Well good luck on your Adminship. User:Marine 69-71

Hi Stormie, now I understand what happened. My computer is old and one day I was writting an article, just when I was about to save it, my computer shut off and everything was lost. Now when I'm writting an article, I'll save it when I'm half finished, just in case my computer shuts off, all will not be lost. That's why my Maria Elena article appeared as a new article, even though I hadn't finished it because I saved it half way. Thanks for the editing. You have made my article a much better one. Take care buddy. User:Marine 69-71

oh, sorry, added it before i noticed the vfd i like used the template because it had the second box with info to add it to another page. I'll just revert back i guess if its going to be delted. Maybe pst a link to a sub-page within my user space where i can give the code to people.--Ryan B. (Talk, contributions) 09:01, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Closing VfD debate

[edit]

Please stop closing debate on VfDs w/o moving them to VfD/Old. IMO, anyone may declare it closed once 120 hours have passed, but there is no reason to leave them in place if you are so anxious to get them handled. IMO, it also is harmless to permit voting to continue until midnite, at which time they are fairly religiously moved en masse to /Old.

In fact, what reason is there for the confusing and less efficient practice of closing and perhaps taking action before midnite, unless you are going to reduce the excessive size of VfD by getting the entries off VfD? And in fact, if you like this work, why aren't you instead working on /Old, where there is IIRC something like a week-long, and more urgent, backlog of expired and moved entries?
--Jerzy(t) 20:32, 2004 Aug 5 (UTC)

As to my comment that you questioned, shame on me: i work from the previous midnite's VfD or the last one that i added an entry to, and edit the pseudo-templates to comment w/o refreshing VfD itself. That works fine, but i should not have assumed you hadn't deleted the entries from VfD! I apologize for my carelessness (and my constant forgetting of how inadequate my imagination is to the world i live in!).

You are surely right about the need to update the instructions! If your research today makes you feel comfortable inferring how it should change, IMO you deserve the option of either doing it, or staring at me until i say "Uh, i suppose since i was snotty enough to criticize, it might be a nice gesture for me to be the one who ensures no one else gets misled by the typical slovenliness of the WP process." So i'd welcome your opinion in this matter. [smile]

I'd have to search out where i learned abt /Old; perhaps its mentioned only in comment-markup on VfD or its transcluded boiler plate.
--Jerzy(t) 00:42, 2004 Aug 6 (UTC)

Even if the watchword of WP is spontaneous collaboration, planned collab is also great. smile Tnx, await yr signal. --Jerzy(t) 01:50, 2004 Aug 6 (UTC)

I may be even a few days in reviewing, as non-WP complications are intruding, but your stated approach sounds promising to me. Thanks. --Jerzy(t) 13:08, 2004 Aug 6 (UTC)

I've made a start, and hasten to say that IMO aspects beyond what we agreed you'd begin correcting are important to deal with. See Wikipedia talk:Deletion process#Factoring in /Old. --Jerzy(t) 07:28, 2004 Aug 11 (UTC)

ANA (All Nice Airline)

[edit]

Hi Storm: I like your name, Stormie, It reminds me of a very soecial friend I had about six years ago. It was actually a she, and she was 12, I am 15 years older. Stormy and me met during a play we were performing in church. With time, she trusted me more about her home problems and things than her own father or friends. I even remember one time I was walking and she and her mom saw me at the red light about 30 minutes away from my destination by foot and at 110 degrees and they gave me a lift. I dont know whatever became of her. What a wonderful time that was!

Memories caused by your name aside, I reverted the All Nippon Airways article because I thought this new user was just taking away the IATA code from the article. My mistake.

Thanks for reading the article I roriginated,. I always love to hear people care about what I care about.

God bless you!

Sincerely yours, "Antonio Tormentor Martin"

Deleting stuff

[edit]

After deleting an article, please also delete the accompanying talk page and any broken redirects leading to either the article or the talk page. For example, the talk page of Arghoslent is of no use and should be deleted. Cheers, 06:46, 13 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Marine69-71

[edit]

Hey, Stormie. If you want to be a calming influence, could you suggest to Marine69-71 that he not revert my copyedit edits to Chita Rivera without discussion? I'd hate to have to block him again. RickK 06:51, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)

The article needs a lot more editing, but I'm not going to worry about it tonight. RickK 07:39, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)

Stormie the man. I,m going to paste a copy of my conversation with RickK. He's treatening to block me and that's harassment.

Why did you revert my edits to Chita Rivera? RickK 06:49, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)

To tell the truth, In my rsearch I read that she (Chita) is considered a legend in Broadway such as Frank Sinatra is a legend in Hollywood. About the American National treasure, I personally do not agree with that description either but, it seems that that is the title that they give to those who win the Kennedy Honors Award. I don't have anything against you RickK, but you sure seem to take a special interest in my articles lately. User:Marine 69-71

I have no particular interest in you or your articles. Check how many of these things you've written and how many I've worked on. I just cruised through Recent Changes and saw that the article needed work. As for the "legend" and "treasure" stuff, it's POV, and shouldn't stay there unless you can find quotes in which people say that. RickK 07:59, Aug 15, 2004 (UTC)

I'm glad that you do not have any particular interest in me or my articles. You can find quotes about her legendary status in "In Theatre Magazine" Interview Now-Up 12/26/03 by Richard Connema "The Legendary career of Broadway Dynamo Chita Rivera". and also in the London Review "Chita Rivera Broadway Legend". I don't make this stuff up and I'm certainly do not post my POV because it is unethical. User:marine 69-71

THank you again for looking, stormie. User:Marine 69-71

You're right but, I didn't undo his edits to the links and stuff, not on purpose. I just hadn't finished the article yet. The main issue was about the legend thing. He wanted quotes and there are the sources. I checked and I believe that the edits he made are still there. Just tell him that he can't threaten to block people just because, there are rules. Maybe he should stay out of my face for a while. I don't want to feel that I'm being harrased. Take care. User:Marine 69-71

Ahhh!

European Union Olympic medals count for 2004

[edit]

Hi there,

I wonder would you consider reversing your decision to delete this article. I have substantially rewritten it. A united EU team is not going to happen. I've discussed potential EU co-operation towards the olympics, and kept the table. I believe the table is valid, for us Europeans/EUians to see how the area has fared as a whole. Please comment on my talk page if you still feel the article should be deleted.

I just got your message regarding Wikipedia's peskiest weirdo. Thank you so much for your support in this matter. Criterion number four was precisely the one I've been citing. - Lucky 6.9 03:12, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit]

Stormie, since you did an excelent job with "Joaquin Phoenix", I wanted to know if you can look at my Ruben Gomez Colon article and merge it with the Rubén Gómez article. What do you say? User:marine 69-71

Hi Buddy, thanks for answering. I think "Ruben Gomez" with the accents would be fine, that's how he appears in the official Baseball Record Books. Howqever in the first sentence within the article I think it's proper to have him as "Ruben Gomez Colon". Thank again! User:Marine 69-71
