Death from heart failure or liver failure?

[edit]

Did Brian Asawa die from heart failure or liver failure? Different sources say different things. This 2016 article from the New York Times says heart failure: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/24/arts/music/brian-asawa-celebrated-countertenor-and-pathbreaker-at-the-met-dies-at-49.html . However, this obituary from the UK's Telegraph says liver failure: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2016/04/28/brian-asawa-opera-singer--obituary/

According to a commentary posted in the following page, the cause was liver failure due to severe alcoholism. Here's the webpage: https://www.sfcv.org/articles/feature/memoriam-brian-asawa-1966-2016 . The commentary is made 5 years ago by Aaron Seeman who noted:

I went to UC Santa Cruz and was in the music department with Brian Asawa, also studying piano. I had recently reestablished contact with him on Facebook, and I am very upset about his death. For one thing, I think it needs to be disclosed that he died from liver failure caused by severe alcoholism. I don't think it is ethical not to disclose this information. With alcoholism as with AIDS, silence = death.

Perhaps others could do further digging and then determine whether change to the indicated cause of death should be made on the Wikipedia page.
