Another Music Extraction Tool

[edit]

I was quite suprised this wasn't mentioned here yet. It's a Music extraction tool for the PC Version of GTA:SA.
The original site is in russian, so here's a random website i found on google with an english description of that tool.

Cleanup

[edit]

I have added a cleanup tag in this article because it is in bad need of reorganization and categorization. I suggest referring to the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City soundtrack and Grand Theft Auto 3 soundtrack articles for some guidance. ++ 25 13:17, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC) ++

Thank you for the cleanup tag (I had a feeling it would be needed), and as I've stared at this article wondering how exactly it should be broken down, I am overcome with the feeling that I'll be unable to do this alone. I had a lot of help on the two articles you mentioned above from SwissCelt and Dragonfly888, respectively, and I was wondering if you would perhaps like to collab on this such project, should you have the time. Currently in my hemisphere, it is 4:02 AM on Independence Day, and I am in dire need of sleep. Perhaps some other time I shall start on the edits, but until then, leave me a post on my talk page (or on this page) and I'll happily answer you. Thanks much in advance and happy July 4, mysekurity 4 July 2005 08:04 (UTC)

afi

[edit]

i was under the impression that afi did a cover of nin's "head like a hole" for this soundtrack but i see no mention of it. am i wrong or should there be a mention of it?

  • AFI did do a song on the soundtrack but was not featured on the in game radio station. Jobe6 19:52, August 24, 2005 (UTC)

CSR

[edit]

I have made a fair change to the playlist of radio station CSR due to the simple and repetitive reason that more versions of the game do not have the Aaron Hall song "Don't Be Afraid". The song only exists on a couple versions of the game, but are not stated in the game booklet that comes with the game. A fair change, and if there is any problems, you can revert the change. WCTR

[edit]

I figured that since the WCTR 'link' only redirected to that same page, I took it out.--Codenamecuckoo 08:05, September 11, 2005 (UTC

K-DST did exactly the same thing, so I cut that too. Tyrhinis 19:06, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just as a small suggestion, maybe there could be a Main Article created for the whole WCTR as there is a huge amount of text needed to cover all the info about the station.

Anyone know why Woman to Woman was removed in later versions?

Aeris / Eris

[edit]

You sure about the "Eris" writing? I think it's "Aeris", equal if Rockstar writes it this way or this way. The most "GTA-people" on the Internet are writing it "Aeris". 213.39.168.118 14:29, 19 June 2006 (UTC)-[reply]

Its definately Aeries, a take off on Nike. Both are Greek gods... 24.84.50.181 03:44, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Although that seems fairly logical, on the 8-disc box set Official Soundtrack, the 'Eris' Pump Up Shoes commercial is featured on this soundtrack on the third disc (Bounce FM, track 15). I know this because I have the box set. And title is in fact called "Eris Pump Up Shoes", so why would Rockstar Games mistake this when labelling up the tracks? (20:08, 25 January 2007)

The in-game billboards spell it "Aeries". Best guess on the CD sleeve is that the printers did their usual "oh, they missed an error" and edited the positive when, in fact, there was no error to correct. 203.129.57.194 02:18, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CJ can buy "Eris" T-shirts at the clothing stores. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.115.253.51 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 20 April 2007

It might also be worth pointing out that Eris itself is, like Nike, a Greek goddess. Nike is the goddess of victory, whereas Eris is the goddess of strife. Looks like typical Rockstar humour to me. Dbam 20:27, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well...just to confuse the issue more, I've got a screenshot of an "AERIS" poster in a clothing store. And the 'AE' logo on stickers in same situation. I'm starting to think that it is in fact "ÆRIS" (per Æ). I guess that makes me the guy who says "that last caller was insane; everyone knows women are made of SAND." ;) Empath 17:20, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another error on Rockstar's end

[edit]

Nuthin' But A G Thang was probably released after the time period that this game takes place in. Nuthin' But A G Thang's album, The Chronic, came out in December of 1992. The end of GTA:SA takes place during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and those took place in April of 1992. 1ne 05:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Where does the game explicitly mention the LA riots? IIRC these were just in-game riots about specific events with the Los Santos corrupt police force (even if they were inspired by the former). Still, I agree that the game would have to take place exactly in December 1992 (it *was* snowing in liberty city tho). 200.48.20.67 16:33, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wher Do U think they got they idea from to put in a South Central (LOS SANTOS) Riot, from LA Riots which atakked South Central Los Angeles, nuthin but a g thang music video realesed in 1993 but the song was recorded in 1992 before December and realesed for radio's there is no sertent date that has been Shown in the Video Game. No, the end of the game takes place in an event inspired by the LA riots. Big difference. The Kinslayer 08:59, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaced with White Room

[edit]

I have the PC version and it's still women to women. I really don't think they ever did that.

Amen - I'm looking at the PC manual with the soundtrack for K-DST listed on page 63; it's Joe Cocker's "Woman to Woman". I don't know what's on the XBox's soundtrack, so I won't remove the comment completely, but I am correcting the mistake about the PC version. Empath (talk) 20:48, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All done.

Why is there mentions of songs being sampled?

[edit]

It seriously holds no relevance to the article. That's why the List of sampled songs article exists. Buzda 20:03, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second this. I think RockStar has gone out of their way to choose songs that were heavily sampled in later years (did so on Vice City also). I don't think this particular list will be up-to-date and maintained, certainly not as much as the List of sampled songs. Dekkerdreyer 17:04, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

"Most of the songs from both K-DST and Radio X also appear as playable tracks in the Guitar Hero series of games."

This isn't even slightly true. There's maybe four in total which appear in Guitar Hero.

Number of Commercials

[edit]

In the game there is a total of 69 commercials. Maybe another Rockstar reference? 200.112.160.54 15:02, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think that this is just yet another referrence to the 69 sex position, like those coutless 69 cent stores that are plastered all over the SA state and the restricted area?

If so, this should be included in the main article, well the number of commercials at least. Afterall, the other references have been mentioned.

Shine or Schein?

[edit]

The commercial Shine by Helmet Shine's title was recently changed to Shine by Helmut Schein. I added the 'Shine by Helmet Shine' commercial to the main list & the extra info at the bottom about the voicing facts which I can easliy back up. But is there anything to back up this change?

DJ Identities

[edit]

Obviously each of the 10 musical radio stations feature DJ's, there should be a larger summary paragraph where information can be found describing what these DJ's are like in character, giving someone who hasn't played this game yet or listened to certain station a much better emphasis on what each station is really like. Other than the music, a radio station is depicted by what kind of person the host(s) is/are. It'll just paint a bigger & better picture for everyone.

K-Rose George Strait or Whitney Shafer

[edit]

Unless I'm mistaken, The song "All my ex's live in Texas" played on K-Rose is by George Strait not Whitney Shafer. I'm Changing it to George Strait. If you are certain its Whitney Shafer please change it.
Neelakantankk 18:52, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the instruction manual, the version on K-Rose is by Whitey Shafer (who also co-wrote the song with Lyndia Shafer). Dbam 19:49, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Forth Right MC?

[edit]

I don't have the game manual nearby, but is this the way the name is officially spelled? I always thought it was Fourth Reich MC, as he was continually campaigning for something of a New World Order (Hitler's reign was usually referred to as the Third Reich). Maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Its definately Forth Right MC, at least according to the manual for the game. TheTrojanHought 17:01, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lazlow in Inversion Therapy Commercial?

[edit]

It might be just me, but I think I recognize the voice in the Inversion Therapy that says he slept with his mom as Lazlow's. This is backed up by Lazlow saying on Entertaining America: "I owe my mom a huge apology"

James Pedeaston

[edit]

Is it possible that James Pedeaston is named after the practise of Pederasty since he erm like young boys from Sri Lanka and Peru, or would this count as Original Research? TheTrojanHought 16:22, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably correct, but it would be OR. I'm uncomfortable with our documenting anything but very obvious allusions without a secondary source. If they're obvious, then I think it's legit to use the game as a primary source. Otherwise, it's original research. Croctotheface 16:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WCTR: interview with jack howitzer (special needs cop)

[edit]

I've noticed that special needs cop with entertaining america has been put just as another advertisement. I think it needs to be put in a seperate category & there needs to be another page about WCTR because its far bigger than the other radio shows.

I would just like to mention that Special needs cop is not only a spoof of Kindergarten Cop, but the actor,Jack Howitzer, is a spoof of rambo. I say this because he says similar quotes to Rambo "I'll give you a war you want believe". He's mentally stressed about past events such as Ho-Chi getting killed, just like Rambo is stressed with his buddies being killed in Vietnam.

Shouldn't this article be moved, then?

[edit]

Considering that the actual albums have their own articles, isn't the title of this article rather misleading? I had assumed that those albums did not have articles because of how this one is titled. Croctotheface (talk) 21:40, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I mentioned at the WP:ALBUMS talk page that I thought the intros of the soundtrack articles could do with being reworded to make clear that they're about the in-game audio, rather than actual albums. However, if you think a move would be better then maybe we should consider it. It might be a good idea to raise this at the GTA task force talk page first, though, as it would involve several articles. Dbam Talk/Contributions 21:55, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dopealicious FM

[edit]
It appears that there was at least one radio station in GTA SA that does not appear in the game itself. It's called Dopealicious FM. It can only be found on billboards across the state of San Andreas. It's unknown what type of music it would have played, as the play can not listen to it. I'm assuming that it was suppost to be a radio station in the game, but was dropped out during production for unknown reasons. Is it alright if I put the discription of the station down on the page sometime soon? I did it with the three radio stations that appeared on billboards in GTA 3. --24.147.1.197 (talk) 14:44, 17 April 2014 (UTC)Jacob Chesley[reply]

Other Radio Stations

[edit]
Like Dopealicious FM, there were also three more radio stations that were going to appear in GTA SA, but they were dropped out during production of the game. These stations were Flash FM (probably a West Coast sister station from the one in GTA Vice City), Hit Radio, and Hi K69. Nothing was said about Flash FM and Hit Radio except on the GTA Wiki, which said that these stations were planned for the game, but were dropped out during the development of the game. Hi K69on the other hand, only the transmitter building appears in the game, as the station was probably dropped during production like Flash FM and Hit Radio. My source was the GTA Wiki.
