Welcome

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~), producing your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! • Benc • 06:57, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

The above was a boilerplate welcome message, but I mean it just the same — welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you so much for your factual corrections at List of the longest English words with one syllable. I had never looked at the definition of grapheme before in depth; I misunderstood it. Our article about graphemes is woefully incomplete, too. I've done what I could to expand it, though, and was wondering if you could check it for accuracy? (And even expand it, if you are so inclined.) You are clearly familiar with linguistics, so I figured I'd just ask you. Thanks, • Benc • 06:57, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the warm welcome, • Benc! This was my first edit beyond anonymous minor edits for spelling and grammar. I'll take a look at the grapheme article. I'm no expert on linguistics or anything, but I am studying it at the undergraduate level, so I have a basic level of familiarity.

Thanks, you beat me to it. I fixed it and then found someone had edited it already.george 15:15, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
