Purpose

Is this template only able to be placed on files which meet CSD F8, or is it for files generally which have a commons counterpart? (I am assuming it is the latter, based on the first sentence.)

I've tagged a png file with this template, when there is a jpg version of the same file with the same name commons. (I am also assuming a png is more desirable to have on commons than a jpg, especially when the png has the older upload date and is lossless. So if that's possible to port over, that seems to be the ideal outcome for it here.) Utopes _{(talk / cont)} 19:50, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
