I always thought that the Gang-gang Cockatoo was shy, but also lacking fear of humans, and appeared very friendly, which is why so many of them got taken as pets, or killed by non-native animals. [Comment, they are unafraid, but are not in danger from predators as they have beaks like bolt-cutters and aren't afraid to use them. They make awful aviary birds for the same reason and are rarely kept in captivity]04:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Why the hell has someone from the Prime Minister's Cabinet of Australia been editing the page so it switches from "hollow tree trunk" to "closed tree trunk" 22 times?! 68.85.39.148 00:52, 25 August 2007 (UTC) [comment: That's The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet] 04:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The caption on the main image says that it's a pair (male and female). Actually the bird on the left is an immature male (because it has the orange bars on the breast like the female). The female also a bit scruffy and young looking. So they are most likely two immature birds. Given this they are unlikely to be a pair (as Gang-gangs, unlike other smaller parrots, only begin to breed after they have lost immature plumage). They are most likely to be a pair of siblings, still being fed by their parents. I suggest emending the caption accordingly. 116.90.73.74 (talk) 04:27, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

well spotted. duly changed. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:37, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Breeding and status sections contradict each other. Breeding says they don't need old hollow tress as they hollow out young trees, status says they need old hollow trees. Need to check the literature to find the real story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.91.9.9 (talk) 01:02, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

conservation status?

[edit]

It looks like its due to be changed here soon to "endangered". Is this a good enough source or should we wait to change it once the ICUN updates?

To update the infobox we'll wait for the IUCN ranking, but I'll include that article in the body CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 02:09, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
