Spelling

[edit]

There must be a mistake in the surname in English or in Arabic. It does not match. Should be corrected. I do not know which one is correct, but there is a big difference.

There is no standard means of translating Arabic names into English. Because of that, Arabic names of both people and places are spelled in various different ways in different books and journals, which is highly confusing. For an example, the former leader of Libya, Colonel Gaddafi is also described as Colonel Khaddafi or Colonel Qaddafi in various publications. There is no correct version because it is entirely up to the translator to decide what version he or she wants to use, which probably explains the difference. --A.S.
