Discussion from Vfd

[edit]
  • Roy - Too minor for its own article - content about "Roy" already exists in Fire Emblem - Texture 16:11, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
    • Delete. I've cleaned it up a bit, but unless we can get at least 100 words on this character in the next seven days, delete. -- user:zanimum
    • Delete. Video game characters rarely need their own page. Prawn 16:54, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
    • Delete: video game characters are not material for an encyclopedia. Wile E. Heresiarch 21:43, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
    • I disagree strongly. We are an educational project and disk space is cheap. Children look up these characters, we can then draw out patterns and historical references (if we are good). For example in one of these games there was an article on a race called the Faustians, I linked that to Faust. They wouldn't get that on a fan site. We are not necessarily writing for ourselves, and we mustn't forget that. Secretlondon 23:52, Jan 30, 2004 (UTC)
    • Keep. If we're going to keep Idliragijenget and Matshishkapeu, we might as well keep Roy. Anthony DiPierro 21:57, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
      • This isn't a political negotiation where if you vote for this I'll vote for that. Those are historical mythologies from an indiginous culture. "Roy" is a minor character in a modern game that will be forgotten in five years. - Texture 22:07, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
        • I didn't say it's a political negotiation. I'm just trying to find NPOV standards for deletion. It's hard. Idliragijenget is a minor character in an ancient myth that has already been forgotten. Anthony DiPierro 22:10, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
          • Idliragijenget is far more important that Roy for evidence see H. Newell Wardle's The Sedna Cycle: A Study in Myth Evolution. She is also historically more famous.--Imran 23:32, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)~
          • I do not understand how an article on an ancient cultural entity can be compared to a minor character in a computer game. Do people really vote on whether they personally have heard of something? Secretlondon 23:47, Jan 30, 2004 (UTC)
    • Keep. Wiki is NOT paper, and this could be a valid article (albeit one I can't write). We're not our only audience. Meelar 00:23, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)
    • redirect to Fire Emblem. --Jiang
    • Delete or redir. Sub-stub with no real use. If you know enough to look at that article you probably already know everything it says. --Imran 00:30, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)

    • Roy needs to keep his own article. He is important enough. He has even been playable in Smash Bros. Melee.
    • Keep. Roy is known widely around the world, why wouldn't he have his own article? Robertorulez
    • Does it matter? I'm 15, and all the information I have on roy comes from here, and SSBM. Wiki is a valuable resource for those who can't go out and buy a book on the history of a character.

    • The user forums on GameFAQS are too PoV for these articles. I'm reworking the small end paragraph and replacing this 'tier' system with a more balanced view from the Nintendo Power official Strategy Guide to the game.
  • I'm all for keeping information out there, but I think this page needs to be redone then. It seems to have a lot of extraneous information; for example, the whole Trivia section seems to tell nothing real about him (i.e., all Fire Emblem characters are subject to the RNG, not just Roy.) However, I vote we keep it, simply because it's the only page that talks about his Super Smash Bros. ability. I think the information on his relevance to FE6 should be reformatted and put on the FE6 page. DajoKatti 06:18, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • If Roy is allowed to keep his article, then Ike should also have his own article. Ike is a main character in two FE games, unlike Roy's one game of main character status and brief cameo in another, and Ike will be a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Smash Bros.

[edit]

The Super smash brothers section needs a lot of work, or even a complete re-write. The parentheses and the discussion on his most "powerful" needs to be completely removed. JDub90 16:10, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also could someone put the translations of what Roy says in Japanese? KKIPPES 08:06, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Roy's Mother

[edit]

Removed a blurb about how it couldn't be Ninian. That's incorrect, since if you get an A Support between her and Eliwood she stays in Elibe. RubilacEx 04:45, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the Smash section

[edit]

The section is way to long and acts as a game guide. I suggest trimming it down a lot.68.248.90.71 23:47, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the SSBM section should be trimmed and as an addition, we should add a link to the smashwiki or smashboards for people who want more information instead of listing so much information when this should just be a general section on Roy's inclusion in SSBM. Also, people have been posting false information about Roy's frame data for his counter, I've changed this.Anc726 14:41, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The section probably only needs a tactical analysis of him in Smash such as his sword's center is most powerful, flare blade kills with one hit etc. Just a suggestion though. 69.221.70.19 19:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've edited the smash section so its much smaller and acts less as a game guide. 69.221.71.206 21:35, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marth

[edit]

Acordding to this, which is better in Super smash bros., Roy or Marth? Son of Jadoja 12:53, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the tier list and the professionals, Marth is far stronger. 75.62.2.230 15:16, 3 August 2007 (UTC) Deathshroud[reply]
