number of members

[edit]

So, who can cite just how many members there are and who they are? Stjohn1970 (talk) 14:30, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The list of people attending changes with each meeting, so I don't think that anyone can cite that in general. This is a regular conference, not a membership group. Phil Bridger (talk) 17:57, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Bilderberg Group (Template)" listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has identified a potential problem with the redirect Bilderberg Group (Template) and has thus listed it for discussion. This discussion will occur at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 January 22 § Bilderberg Group (Template) until a consensus is reached, and readers of this page are welcome to contribute to the discussion. 1234qwer1234qwer4 14:13, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose merging these articles to Bilderberg meeting:

I propose merging these too, though softer:

I believe the following two have enough standalone coverage for their own article:

I don't think these are hopeless articles, but just having lists sourced to primary sources across the first 6 is not ideal. My idea would be to blank-and-redirect the ones that get consensus for merging, potentially add in some of the agendas to this article if we can fit it in, and have zero prejudice against recreating the redirected articles with stronger sourcing/possibly better formatting. I don't think every edition will be notable, but some will be, as seen by 2013 and 2022 having decently strong sourcing. You can always retrieve the information from the article history if you want to fix up these articles after they've been redirected.

Also noting that in 2009, the 2003 Bilderberg Meeting article went to AFD and got merged here.

Any thoughts? Skarmory (talk • contribs) 03:05, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I missed List of Bilderberg meetings; I think that's a better target. With no opposition, I'm going to go ahead and WP:BLAR these, targeting List of Bilderberg meetings; if I find anything past agendas and participant lists, I'll add it to the main article or at least leave it on the talk page here. A further review of 2015 leaves it borderline, but I think I'm going to leave it as-is for now. 1954, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017 and 2019 have all been redirected, with no content I felt like I could add (I might be able to add some references to the list article, I'll take a look at that). Feel free to recreate any of these with better sourcing. (There is also now 2023 Bilderberg Conference, which also seems to be acceptably sourced; no need to merge it.) The redirect Bilderberg.org has been listed at redirects for discussion to determine whether its use and function meets the redirect guidelines. Readers of this page are welcome to comment on this redirect at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 May 29 § Bilderberg.org until a consensus is reached. How many conferences held?

[edit]

The article said there have been 69 conferences, but if there were cancellations in 1976, 2020 and 2021, I assume only 66 have been held. I've amended the text in the lead to remove the count. Perhaps someone could clarify the issue? Pikemaster (talk) 10:53, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've answered my own question - there were two meetings in the years 1955 and 1957, so with the most recent meeting in 2023 that does add up to 69. Article amended again. Pikemaster (talk) 11:00, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
