archaeology-stub

[edit]

I see you created the archaeology-stub - if you're going through Category:Archaeology like I am relabelling stubs, one of us can start at the end, the other at the start and we'll meet in the middle (just so we're not tripping over each other's work). Only if you are, don't feel you have to do this. JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 19:01, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I am not planning on going through them at the moment - perhaps later; just let me know which end you're going from. Gsd97jks 19:25, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Sure, I started on A. JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 19:31, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Rio Moche, etc.

[edit]

I did not change your edit but wish to note that Moche River is not necessarily the "English language" form of the name. The U.S. Geological Survey and UCLA among others have online reports about "Rio Moche". We don't translate Rio Grande either. Rmhermen 23:56, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)

Feel free to change it back if you like, I was more interested in making an edit to differentiate between the river valleys and the rivers themselves. I was also basing the change on the naming for the Amazon. But I think both naming systems are fine. Gsd97jks 01:59, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Moche photo

[edit]

Is Image:Moche decapitator.jpg a picture you took yourself? Just trying to be sure of the copyright status. Rmhermen 04:16, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

Yes, the photo was taken by me. I believe I indicated as such on its page. I will be continuing to upload photos in the near future and releasing to the public domain; please rest assured that any photos I upload are taken by me or are used with permission. Gsd97jks 20:00, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I wasn't sure if you had indicated anywhere the connection between your user name and the real name you listed on the page. Rmhermen 20:24, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)
Yes, that's me ;) Next time I'll put my user name to avoid confusion. And I do mean to fix that photo too, it's pretty bad. Gsd97jks 00:06, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Books in new york

[edit]

Hey thanks for contributing to the list. I haven't worked on it a while...it's getting harder for me to find stuff to add. Thanks again Bremen 19:53, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Set in NYC?

[edit]

I haven't actually read Neuromancer so I wasn't aware only a few scenes were set in New York. So I dunno if it belongs. The list is pretty pathetic right now so I like to have as many books as possible. I can't seem to find new books anymore...but I know tons more are out there. Bremen 05:37, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Lomas de Lachay

I made that article a long time ago so I don't really remember. Probably not, so feel free to delete it. --Tuomas hello 23:29, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

[edit]

Hi, Jessica.
I'm Juan Carlos, from Lima, Peru. Nice to write you.
I saw the reversion you've made of Huhsunqu's changes in Manco Inca Yupanqui article... and I have to say that I agree with it. However, I wonder if here is a policy about spelling of historical names in Quechua language. Can you guide me to that page?
Sincerely,
CUADRADO ORTIZ, Juan Carlos
Lima, Sunday, January 15, 2006.

Juan Carlo,

There has been much debate about spelling of many of the Quechua names in the English Wikipedia. While there is currently no article on naming conventions in Quechua language, you can refer to the Wikipedia:Naming conventions article as a general guide. It says there that "article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize".

Above all, I think it is the best policy to discuss any potential re-naming on the article's "Talk" page first.

File permission problem with File:Spanish buidling Iquitos.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Spanish buidling Iquitos.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 10:24, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your upload of File:Amazon blackwater.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 3 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
