Talk:Jackie (given name)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's only one Jackie, of course: for fans of The Simpletons, it clearly means cartoon character Jackie Bouvier. -- Mr. Play D'Oh

No, you moron, the one and only Jackie is the First Lady of Camelot, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy! -- Millard Fitzhugh Carrutthers IV

As far as I remember on the telly, Marge's mother is referred to as Mrs Bouvier or Jacqueline Bouvier, never Jackie. Anyway, there's the Brel song. -- Tarquin

As Ed pointed out in his own "special" way, this page does make sense for the Simpsons character, but not for JBK. Jackie may be a useful disambiguation page if there were a number of queens called Jackie I of Czechoslovachina or Jackie MMII of Farawayistan. But not for people that do have a proper surname... And disambiguation shouldn't be used for differently spelled names really, although I suppose this does no real harm. Jeronimo

I added an entry that was later removed due to it not being linked to an article, yet there are other entries on the page that are not linked and yet remain...why? --Bwd234 22:48, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did a Google search on the new entry you added, and I thought that the name was already on the list so I removed it. I left the current redlinks because they seemed like reasonable new entries. Was your entry a new notable person that will (someday) need a separate article? - grubber 01:06, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was going to add an article as soon as I got more information on this person. This person is gaining fame on the internet for her videos that appear on YouTube and other sites. I also have information that she will be appearing on VH1's Web Junk 20, air date unconfirmed so far. After the show airs I will add an article with a link to it on here. --Bwd234 11:57, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I apologize for the edit then. One of the things I do on WP is watch 300 pages or so and make sure that they don't get vandalized, and I tend to scrutinize edits by anonymous people (IP addresses) and redlinked users (like yourself currently) more actively than other editors, simply because this group is more likely to do drive-by edits and make edits that are not compatible with WP policy. If you're going to take a larger part in WP in the future, I'd suggest adding some info about yourself on your userpage. Welcome to WP! :) - grubber 15:50, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :) --Bwd234 21:24, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A female name?

[edit]

The first line says that it is a female name, but numerous examples that follow are male. 165.124.70.189 22:21, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
