My Life, My Rules

[edit]

Seeing as how this dvd has been confirmed on the WWE website, shouldn't we put something up about the dvd? It comes out in less that two weeks (from the time i write this) 75.187.106.251 (talk) 06:42, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But the question is that is it really useful to contribute to the article?--Pookeo9 Talk If you need anything 23:59, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it should at least get a 1 sentence mention on the "Other Media" section, along with the other WWE DVD's he's been in. TJ Spyke 00:05, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, any DVD or autobiography with sources should be mentioned. DVDs are certainly helpful.--WillC 09:26, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since when? As far as I knew, if it was from a first party source and could be confirmed as being from that source (say, for example: An official Facebook page, or an official YouTube page), then it could be used. Also, according to this, YouTube can be used as a source... as long as common sense is exercised. I'll just point out WP:ELOFFICIAL as well, since we're on the subject. Heel Turn

[edit]

At Bound for Glory, Hardy turned heel with Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff and with their help defeated Angle and Anderson to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship for the first time. They were then joined by Jeff Jarrett and Abyss, revealing the group that Abyss had been referring to as "they" for several months.[155] On the following edition of Impact! the stable was named Immortal, as it formed an alliance with Ric Flair's Fortune. Meanwhile, Hardy debuted a new dark character, using cryptic messages as he explained the reasons behind his turn.[156] At Turning Point Hardy retained his title in a defense against Matt Morgan, a replacement for Mr. Anderson, who was sidelined after suffering a concussion during an attack by Hardy.

[edit]

Please delete the link referring to Jeff Hardy's 'Retirement (2010–present)' and subsequently, the statement claiming that 'On July 7th, hardy posted on his facebook page that his contract with TNA had expired. His final match will be against Rob Van Dam'

Jeff Hardy does not use nor even own a Facebook account, which is reinforced by his official twitter page; http://twitter.com/#!/JEFFHARDYBRAND

The information is unreliable and incredibly misleading. It may be beneficial to add that there has been talk of his retirement due to career ending back surgery but nothing has been confirmed. This can be seen on Matt Hardy's youtube entry, http://www.youtube.com/user/MATTHARDYBRAND#p/u/26/6j_dpvbQyQU

Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. [edit]

The explanation for the debacle at Victory Road with Sting needs to be much better-explained to include the facts that Jeff Hardy admitted being too intoxicated by drugs to compete, that various sources in the company - including Sting - stated they knew hours before the match that Hardy was too intoxicated to perform; he had to be carried from his trailer and held up in the "gorilla" position and it took him an unusually long time to come out during his entrance theme. It should also be stated that TNA offered refunds and free access to content as a result of how angry and upset fans were, as this was a main event match for a title at a PPV that people paid $30 to watch. Sting also broke kayfabe after Eric Bischoff ran into the ring and spoke to him. It took Sting 6 seconds to pin Hardy; Hardy can be seen trying to kick out of the pin but is restrained by Sting in order to end the match. Fans were chanting "bullshit! bullshit!" and Sting can clearly be heard agreeing with them as he exits the area. This horribly incomplete blurb should also include the fact that this is widely considered one of the worst matches of all time and that it resulted in TNA losing mass viewership. Many fans have stated that they never watched TNA again. 2601:7:8B80:111:1064:1184:80A2:E6CE (talk) 06:40, 8 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Replace the "** Reverse Twist of Fate (Inverted facelock neckbreaker slam)[1] – rarely used"" line. If Hardy is the only (active) wrestler to use it, as he is to the best of my knowledge, then it's still a signature move, even if it IS seldomly used. 85.229.51.18 (talk) 20:46, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in professional wrestling history"

[edit]

I think this should be removed, as it's clearly not true. If one were to comb through books and the internet to synthesize the various "greatest of all time" lists, there would be only a handful of names that recurred frequently enough to qualify uncontroversially (Flair, Austin, Michaels, etc). Hardy might appear on a list or two, but certainly not enough to say he's "widely regarded" as one of the greatest.

Of the 5 citations listed, two are meaningless promotional copy from TNA and WWE (neither of which claim Hardy as an all-time great), one is simply a list of titles won, one is a low quality listicle, and one is an unsigned article, from a website of no particular repute, about Hardy's recent release. This last one does indeed say "widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time" but offers no citation or evidence for its claim.

If Jeff Hardy can be considered to be "widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in professional wrestling history" based on the above, then I should be able to submit an edit suggesting that Hardy is a unicorn based on links to a couple of blog posts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.158.44.2 (talk) 04:44, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted the edits adding this in, as the sources did not support the claim.RF23 (talk) 10:57, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed this previously but another user edit warred to keep it in. Several sources have been added that supposedly support this claim but they don't even say it... some of these sources aren't even reliable in the first place. One source, talkSPORT, does say that he is " widely considered one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all-time". I have no idea how reliable this source is but I think we do need multiple sources to back up this claim or we need to attribute it to them. Ultimately, I think it would be better to remove this entirely.LM2000 (talk) 11:44, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've added attribution to Talksport, since they're the sole source that actually says this. Also pinging involved users: Elcids23, SVTCobra, Chami46 and Rizhbergs.LM2000 (talk) 12:12, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, this was added and maintained by some pretty blatant sockpuppets (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Rizhbergs). If the investigation concludes that's the case, these additions should be blanked without further discussion.LM2000 (talk) 13:37, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think the version quoting Talksport is still acceptable regardless of the sock puppet investigation.  oncamera  (talk page) 13:41, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: My involvement is pretty simple. A novice editor, who had gained attention by making questionable edits on a multitude of pages, removed a significant paragraph which cited multiple sources and had been part of this article for a significant amount of time. I saw the topic had already been raised here. I undid the edit and in the edit summary suggested to weigh in on the talk page and get consensus. I did not look much deeper into it. The user responded, however, on my talk page. I again referred them to this talk page as it is outside my normal purview. Feel free to check out the interaction at User talk:SVTCobra#Jeff Hardy. The alternate source we mention is this. --SVTCobra 14:21, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Simply I'm a free agent, edits everywhere not only in particular page saw that something missing I added besides what given in sources and what I founded...not engaged in any editing war and if you think that this sources is not reliable you may remove this and swear I will never come here to edit this so check the sources and reference and then take the decision. I kept interest everywhere and edits everywhere not only in one particular field..before taking any decision just check out the provided sources don't take it personally I'm neither a scammer nor I'm interested in spreading rumours...Now you make take decision. LM2000 (talk) Elcids23 this one is my account which I used a months ago for another purpose not for this purpose...My intention is not to spread wrong information i edits with respect to sources...and swear not to violate any rules...I'm personally very sorry for that LM2000 (talk) never will do this mistake Rizhbergs (talk) 26 December 2021 (UTC)

Comment: Also, take a look on the Hardy Boys "widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in professional wrestling history" with just one WWE source. --HHH Pedrigree (talk) 16:36, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So, obviously the current version is an improvement. I still thing the sentence should be removed for a few reasons. Per WP:LEAD, everything in the lede should be reflected in the rest of the article somewhere. Not only is he not referred to as "widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in professional wrestling history" anywhere else in the article, but he doesn't even have a Legacy section. Then there's the source. Again, I don't know if talkSPORT counts as WP:RS or not. Even assuming that it is, I have the same problems with it that 141.158.44.2 pointed out above. The article is about him losing his job at WWE. While it makes a passing mention that he is "widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in professional wrestling history", it doesn't explain why and doesn't discuss his legacy at all. Compare this to Ric Flair, who has multiple citations in that lede, or Lou Thesz, who has a six paragraph Legacy section. I think that we give this source WP:UNDUE weight and essentially push a WP:FRINGE idea.LM2000 (talk) 08:33, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"He is best known for his tenures in WWE and All Elite Wrestling (AEW)."

[edit]

No he isn't? What AEW fanboy added this LOL, he had a much bigger IMPACT in TNA than he ever did in AEW. Blsupr (talk) 08:27, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest I'm never a fan of the trend of articles saying someone is best known for their time in a certain company. It's almost never sourced and just invites squabbling abound where they were the most famous. I think it should be restricted to "He is known for his time in WWE, TNA, and AEW" (or words to that effect). — Czello (music) 08:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Though I would also remind you of WP:AGF; we don't call other editors fanboys. — Czello (music) 08:34, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
