Fair use rationale for Image:Gramophone Recording Angel.jpg

[edit]

Image:Gramophone Recording Angel.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Status of Angel now that Warner Classics has absorbed EMI Classics

[edit]

Now that Warner Classics has absorbed EMI Classics, we have yet to determine the fate of Angel Records. We should keep an eye out as to the fate of Angel Records. Steelbeard1 (talk) 19:48, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Because the AngelRecords.com URL now redirects to Sinfini Music, I sent them an E-mail asking about the status of the Angel Records name and trade mark. Steelbeard1 (talk) 18:06, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I got a reply from Sinfini Music which is as follows: Thanks for your enquiry. As far as we are aware if Angel Records was owned by EMI Classics this would now fall under the Warner Classics family of labels who may be able to help explain more about the retention of the name and trademark. Here is their contact form on their website if it helps: http://www.warnerclassics.com/contactform It is probably a little confusing but following the sale of EMI Classics by Universal Music Group to Warner Music Group the name EMI Classics is not used by Warner Classics, hence all old EMI Classics web domains are now redirected to Sinfini Music - which is an editorially independent classical website but funded by Universal Music so it was decided the most appropriate place to direct previous EMI Classics web traffic to as it also includes EMI Classics recordings and artists. I hope that makes some sense and helps you in the right direction for more information about Angel Records. We also hope you enjoy Sinfini Music along the way! Kind regards Tina

The current status of Angel Records straight from Warner Music

[edit]

I got a reply from Warner Music UK regarding the status of Angel Records and, as you will read, it is still uncertain. I guess unofficially, Universal Music Group still owns the Angel Records name and trademark as well as recordings originating from Angel:

I’m afraid I have heard no official confirmation of the status of Angel Records as yet.

Unofficially I did try to find out how to license some of the Angel recordings and was only able to progress with this via Universal. I don’t know if that is meant to be the case, or will be the case in the future, but in the absence of official announcements, I would take that as tacit ownership by Universal.

As I say, that was my own attempt at investigative work and is in no way official, but it is the best of my limited knowledge.

I hope that is of some use to you,

All the best,

Jack

Angel Records current status

http://www.angelrecords.com is a dead link. The Universal-EMI-Warners purchase and reorgs need to be incorporated into this article. I do not have the expertise (or time, after all these years) to do so. Fantailfan (talk) 11:56, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
