Why is there not a single page in Pearland's history that states anything about the lives that were lost in the 1977 pipeline explosion, in Brookside Villige?-— Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.79.255.73 (talk) 04:59, 27 December 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a relative shortimer to the area (9 years) and this is the first I've heard about it. Do you have any details to share?--Ultimate ed 02:40, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Randall's

[edit]

I'd bet Randall's has fallen off this list of top employers since they closed the store at Pearland Parkway. How can a grocery store fail in a fast growing town like Pearland? Ultimate ed 16:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sad but true. There's a huge new part of my neighborhood going up right behind it. I guess someone is planning to open a bigger store on pearland parkway? Maybe they'll move that kroger and make it bigger. Jordanmills 20:08, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable citizens

[edit]

i bet there are some, can you check?

There's me. Jordanmills 20:08, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Abercrombie and Fitch?

[edit]

Alright, I'm cutting this out of the article and putting it here for now:

It is also the home of the world headquarters of Abercrombie and Fitch.

I can't find anything to back this up. The A&F article itself certainly makes no mention of this. Looks like subtle vandalism to me, but I'm not ready to just dismiss it completely.Ultimate ed 03:02, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Live in Pearland and never heard of them having offices here. Jordanmills 20:15, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Put the city seal

[edit]

I order you to put the city seal on, I can't cuz I don't know how to upload. Falconleaf 00:05, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Upcoming Education

[edit]

As many new schools have been built and are being built, I suggest a change in the listing of schools in the article. Lediur 02:35, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This Entry Needs More Info.

[edit]

With Pearland (the city and the population) rapidly growing, we really ought to be expanding this entry. The current text is somewhat stub-like... --Ebsameer 05:47, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would you suggest we try to follow something more like Sugar Land, Texas entry? Ultimate ed 17:03, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The overall structure of the article looks good, each paragraph just needs expansion. Postoak 21:36, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I do think it'd best to follow Sugar Land's entry. Also, I agree with you, Postoak, the overall structure is fine, but each section needs a fair amount of expansion.--Ebsameer 06:15, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Development Section?

[edit]

Given the amount of residential and commercial development projects in the Pearland area, perhaps it'd be best to create a section that briefly lists and describes (see briefly) each of the major ones. It would be an excellent way to keep track of the rampant growth.

Here is a forum that keeps track of the development (as you can see, it's not very organized): http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/index.php?s=ee5f4cf05743fe1d4e200395d1df3829&showforum=19

Desertification

[edit]

This appears a bit far fetched. Pearland desertified? The piece states, "the Galveston hurricane of 1900 destroyed most of the fruit trees and slowed growth for a considerable period of time, as well as desertificated (sic) the area. In 1914, with agriculture rebounding and the end of desertification..." So what we are supposed to believe is that Peraland was a desert for four years? Right before and right after it was a Gulf Coast climate as we know... but for those four years it was a desert. Right.

Zoning maps and schools

[edit]

Many of the maps at http://copgisweb.ci.pearland.tx.us/web/map-library.htm are very useful

It looks like some residential-zoned land is in the HISD section

http://copgisweb.ci.pearland.tx.us/web/MapsGIS/Subdivisions.pdf - http://www.webcitation.org/6ODenHELY - Shows that no subdivisions have yet been built in that section, but someone did build a house there; https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Pearland,+Texas&hl=en&ll=29.58373,-95.402344&spn=0.005663,0.009645&sll=37.6,-95.665&sspn=41.839504,79.013672&hnear=Pearland,+Brazoria+County,+Texas&t=h&z=17&layer=c&cbll=29.584229,-95.403105&panoid=TZoyIq9AC-FxV-WpCHqgsg&cbp=12,23.7,,0,0.5 WhisperToMe (talk) 16:54, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
