4C notation - I dimly recollect this as being 4C xxx.yyy.(zzz) where xxx was the 10 degree declination strip and yyy the number of the source in Right Ascension order within that band. And where things were added later there was a zzz term (as in the 3CR catalogue)Linuxlad 13:46, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)
