Mental disorders and drug abuse

[edit]

the following source, among others, documents that Andy Irons was diagnosed with bipolar, was taking medication to treat this and other disorders and family accounts of how he tried to self treat with recreational drugs instead. The family also accepts the link to his death

Quality

Article and info is legit, but need some serious polishing. ClockworkTroll 07:02, 18 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Possibly in 2004, but in 2009, the article needs to be checked for neutrality. Viriditas (talk) 11:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

For some reason the "death_date" template does not seem to work, can anyone figure out how to do this?
ie. | death_date = 2 November 2010(2010-11-02) (aged 36) Typical! On this page it works!
Nota bene* Code: | death_date = {{death date and age|2010|11|02|1974|11|2|df=y}} - 220.101 talk\Contribs 01:12, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I thought there wasn't a "death" part of the template... Template:Infobox Surfer doesn't list "death_date" or "death_place" as something that could be added to the template. That's why I improvised :P --Andy (talk) 02:38, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What, surfers don't die? I think a template fix is required. - 220.101 talk\Contribs03:21, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

How is it that he is listed as kama'aina when HE WAS BORN HERE? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.235.2.198 (talk) 01:18, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most readers will have no idea what that means anyway, so it should probably be removed. - 220.101 talk\Contribs03:21, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pharmacological substances at time of death

[edit]

Can we all agree to not allow additions of rumors regarding methadone and other meds at the time of death until there is definitive information? It's really not fair to his reputation and his family until an official report is out. Who's on board with this? --Travis Thurston+ 22:36, 5 November 2010

why the big secret about his drug addicion and the possability of him over dosing? drugs aren't cool... and they kill people. pj
Because this is not the place for "possibilities". Obviously we don't want unverified or unreliable sources contributing to the section until the definitive cause is determined. --Travis Thurston+ 06:52, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dallas?

[edit]

I know everybody thinks that Dallas-Fort Worth Airport is in Dallas, but it's not. It's not even in Dallas County - it's in Grapevine, in Tarrant County, which is why the Tarrant County Medical Examiner is involved in this case.Benami (talk) 00:11, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Cause of Death

[edit]

I propose to reduce the text on the cause of death as it is known with certainty the final autopsy. http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/andy-irons-autopsy-analysis-released_56519/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Realxsalo (talkcontribs) 23:27, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the article was too heavily weighted towards the death of Irons, so I think the revised information is more appropriate. Thank you for discussing this on the talk page. A lot of material was being removed without the use of edit summaries so one didn't know the reason for the changes. That being said, I think a more reliable source than Surfline should be used.
