Corrected some information on this tornado. Source: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ama/html/for-svr4.htm

To state that the "tornado destroyed everything in its path" is never an accurate statement -- it's hyperbole -- and should be avoided. Nick Storm 17:42, 3 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Just added a link to Burle Pettit's recent Sunday A-J column. One of his best. H2O 06:51, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I graduated from Texas Tech just a year before this tornado hit. I got a book that was published showing the damage and it was amazing to see all the places I knew reduced to pieces. WAB Houston 22:41, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of tornado

[edit]

The article has a photo that is captioned as the Lubbock tornado, supposedly taken by Judge Robert H. Bean. The photo is actually the June 8, 1953 Erie MI tornado. It appears in the ESSA Natural Disaster Survey Report for the Lubbock storm, along with a quote from Judge Bean. However, the photo is not of the Lubbock tornado itself. 2601:2C4:4700:77D0:5940:F38C:B04:F7E5 (talk) 04:40, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
