My adminship

[edit]

Hi Smit! Thank you for your support in my nomination. I look forward to helping out. - BanyanTree 04:25, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Sorry

[edit]

I was "kidding" Rama et al when I stated the foreigner thing. It was completely off the cuff and wasn't intended to insult. For the record, my ex is Canadian and my girlfriend is Croatian so I have no problem at all with "foreigners"! It seems that a lot of my "joking" has been taken out of context and I'm sorry if you felt insulted by my actions. Appreciate your time, regardless and happy editing.--MONGO 18:15, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK then. I didn't feel insulted myself, though others might be. But still, what about this edit? Do you think "(which is ridiculous)" is NPOV? Smit 22:17, 19 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Rama is from France and we go way back to Jan. 2005 when I used to have some rather strong arguments with him in the George W Bush article. I was merely trying to tweak him...it wasn't intended to be a serious edit. The vast majority of the other 6 thousand plus edits I have done don't reflect this. Regardless, I am just trying to ensure that no matter how you or anyone votes, rest assured that I am most definitely not opposed to "Foreigners" in any way, fashion or form.--MONGO 06:29, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, joking in edit summaries is one thing, but the edits themselves should be serious... Was the earliest version of your user page also a joke, when you said you consider "all liberals to be adolescent" and homosexuality an "illness", and "more bombs should be used on more countries" etc.? Smit 12:22, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it was a joke...that was early on. I clearly state here that it is preposterous [1] and here are the true sentiments [2]. My page has evolved since then of course. Happy editing.--MONGO 12:38, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
MONGO, if it was a joke, why did you make legimate spelling corrections in the middle of that series of edits? Why did you tag the article as POV at the same time as well? Here are all of MONGO's edits to that article in August arranged in chronological order from past to most recent: [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]. All that seems to be a lot of trouble to go to for a joke. And more than that, is an article's integrity expendable to you for the sake of humor? Tagging an article as POV or inserting comments as a "joke" strikes me as very irresponsible. -- Mr. Tibbs 21:23, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

MONGO RfA

[edit]

I appreciate you reconsidering your vote on my RfA. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!--MONGO 09:40, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Halibutt's RfA

[edit]
Thanks. WikiThanks.
Thanks. WikiThanks.
I would like to express my thanks to all the people who took part in my (failed) RfA voting. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! I was also surprised by the amount of people who stated clearly that they do care, be it by voting in for or against my candidacy. That's what Wiki community is about and I'm really pleased to see that it works.
As my RfA voting failed with 71% support, I don't plan to reapply for adminship any more. However, I hope I might still be of some help to the community. Cheers! Halibutt 05:10, 29 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
